Mission Objectives

  1. Push through the snow canyon

The mission opens in a blinding snowstorm at the bottom of a frozen canyon. Covenant patrols are thick — Elite Ultras on Ghosts, Shade turrets on ridges, and Banshees making strafing runs. Grab a Plasma Pistol from the first dead Grunt; the charged shot tracks Banshees and knocks them out of the sky in one hit.

  2. Commandeer the Scorpion tank

Midway through the canyon you reach a clearing with a parked Scorpion MBT. The tank changes the entire mission flow — its cannon one-shots everything short of a Hunter. Use the coaxial machine gun for Grunts to conserve cannon shells. Watch the ridgeline for rocket-wielding Flood in later sections.

  3. Cross the Forerunner bridge under fire

The massive Forerunner bridge is one of the game's iconic set pieces. Two Banshees swoop in from the left as you cross. A Wraith sits on the far side shelling your position. Use the Scorpion to destroy the Wraith first — two cannon rounds to the front turret — then focus on the Banshees. If the Scorpion gets destroyed here, a rocket launcher spawns in the bridge's lower maintenance tunnel.

  4. Clear the interior control complex

Leave the tank at the entrance — the interior is too tight for vehicles. The control complex is a maze of purple-lit corridors patrolled by Elite Zealots and cloaked Spec Ops Grunts. Check corners obsessively. A Hunter pair guards the first elevator room; use the pillars to break line of sight and circle-strafe one at a time.

  5. Defeat the Zealot Elite and Hunter pair at the control room

The final room before the Control Room console is a two-tiered chamber. A Zealot Elite with a Energy Sword rushes you from the upper level while two Hunters provide fire support from the lower floor. Kill the Zealot first — it closes distance in under three seconds — then use the upper balcony to pick apart the Hunters from above where their fuel rods cannot arc.

Boss Strategy

Zealot Elite plus Hunter pair is the game's most punishing multi-threat encounter. The Zealot charges immediately with an Energy Sword and must die within the first five seconds or you are dead. Stick it with a plasma grenade as it crosses the center of the room — the lunge animation makes it vulnerable to sticks. Once the Zealot drops, retreat to the upper balcony. The two Hunters cannot climb the ramp, so you can fire down at their backs safely. If you have a Sniper Rifle, aim for the exposed orange neck joint rather than the back for a faster kill. A rocket launcher spawns in the corner of the lower floor if you need it. Do not drop to the lower level until both Hunters are confirmed dead.

Collectibles

  • Terminal 5Inside the first Forerunner bridge control tower
  • Skull: FogHidden in an ice cave off the main path before the Scorpion tank section
  • Data PadOn a console in the generator room halfway through the interior section

Secrets & Easter Eggs

  • Hidden rocket launcher — in the bridge section, descend into the maintenance tunnel beneath the bridge deck. The tunnel entrance is on the left side halfway across. Inside is a SPNKr rocket launcher with four rockets. Use it on the Wraith instead of the tank cannon to preserve Scorpion ammo for the interior section.
  • Banshee skip route — after the bridge crossing, kill both Banshee pilots but do not destroy the vehicles. One Banshee usually survives intact. Fly it over the canyon wall directly to the Control Room exterior, skipping the entire interior complex. The landing is tight and anti-air fire is heavy, but this cuts fifteen minutes off the mission time.
  • Extra Scorpion — a second Scorpion spawns on the far side of the bridge next to a Covenant supply tent. The game does not telegraph this and most players assume one tank is all they get. If your first Scorpion took too much damage, abandon it and grab the fresh one.

Pro Tips

  • Play on Normal difficulty first to learn the mission layout before attempting Heroic or Legendary.
  • Check your corners — the remake features enhanced enemy AI that flanks more aggressively.
  • Save heavy weapons for elite encounters; conserve precision weapon ammo for headshots.
