Mission Objectives

  1. Traverse the night canyon in reverse

You start at the Control Room and must fight backward through the same canyon from Assault on the Control Room — but now at night, with Sentinels hostile and Flood everywhere. The three-way combat is your biggest advantage. Let Sentinels and Flood engage each other while you slip past. Only fire when fired upon; every shot you take reveals your position to all three factions.

  2. Disable the first pulse generator

The generator room is thick with Flood combat forms and patrolled by Sentinel swarms. Enter through the upper maintenance access instead of the main door — it lets you see the room layout before committing. Destroy the generator's three power conduits (glowing red cylinders) with any weapon. Frag grenades destroy all three at once if you land the throw on the central conduit.

  3. Secure the Banshee and cross the canyon

A Banshee spawns on the landing platform near the second generator. This is your ticket across the canyon — ground travel takes three times as long and exposes you to non-stop ambushes. Clear the anti-air Shade turrets on the opposite ridge before taking off, or they will swat you out of the sky in seconds.

  4. Disable the second and third generators

The second generator is in an open courtyard with a Scorpion tank — the same tank from the previous mission, now surrounded by Flood. Sprint to the tank, board it, and the cannon will clear the courtyard in under a minute. The third generator is deep in the interior complex and guarded by two Zealot Elites fighting Sentinels. Wait for them to whittle each other down, then clean up the survivors.

  5. Destroy the final generator and confront the Zealots

The final generator room is the mission's hardest fight. Three Zealot Elites with Energy Swords, plus two Hunter pairs, plus Sentinel reinforcements dropping in every sixty seconds. Use the Banshee if you kept it — the fuel rod cannon can fire into the generator room from outside. Otherwise, grab the rocket launcher from the supply room two corridors back and use hit-and-run tactics.

Boss Strategy

The final room contains up to three Zealot Elites wielding Energy Swords with active camouflage, supported by two Hunter pairs. Fighting fair here is a death sentence. Your best approach: bring the Banshee from the canyon and hover outside the generator room's upper window. The Banshee's fuel rod cannon can fire through the window and kill everything inside with zero risk to you. If ground-bound, the rocket launcher is essential — fire one rocket to break shields and scatter the group, then a second to kill the wounded Zealots. The Sentinels that drop in every sixty seconds are actually helpful here; they aggro on the Flood and Covenant before you. Let them absorb attention while you reposition. On Legendary, this room accounts for roughly half of all deaths in the mission — patience and kiting are mandatory.

Secrets & Easter Eggs

  • Banshee steal route — from the canyon start, hug the left cliff wall until you reach a narrow crevice. Jetpack or crouch-jump through it to emerge directly above the Banshee platform. The Covenant guarding the Banshee will not see you until you are already in the cockpit. This skips two Shade turret encounters.
  • Active camouflage path — after disabling the first generator, backtrack to the outdoor area and look for a Forerunner power conduit glowing green against the cliff face. Melee it to activate a hidden active camo power-up. Use it to bypass the entire second generator fight and reach the Scorpion tank undetected.
  • Scorpion tank recovery — the Scorpion from the second generator courtyard can actually be driven to the third generator interior. It is a tight fit through the blast doors — angle it forty-five degrees and boost through. The cannon clears the interior corridors in one shot each, making the hardest section trivial.

Pro Tips

  • Play on Normal difficulty first to learn the mission layout before attempting Heroic or Legendary.
  • Check your corners — the remake features enhanced enemy AI that flanks more aggressively.
  • Save heavy weapons for elite encounters; conserve precision weapon ammo for headshots.
