Blood Gulch — Map Guide & Strategy

Map Overview

Blood Gulch is the most iconic multiplayer map in Halo history. A large, symmetrical box canyon with two bases at opposite ends connected by open terrain, caves, and ridge lines. Vehicle combat is essential, and map control revolves around the central hill and power weapon spawns.

Map Layout & Callouts

Key Locations

• Red Base — Red team spawn point. Two levels with rooftop access and a teleporter.
• Blue Base — Blue team spawn point. Identical layout to Red Base with a teleporter.
• Center Hill — Central elevated position with sightlines to both bases. Controls map flow.
• Cave — Wraps around the edge of the map, connecting behind both bases. Good for flanking.
• Ridge — Elevated walkway along the cliff edge. Sniper perch with long sightlines.
• Teleporter — Each base has a teleporter that exits near the opposite base's side.

Strategy Tips

• Control the Center Hill — it provides the best sightlines and rocket launcher spawn
• Use the Warthog for rapid flag captures in CTF — a driver and gunner can dominate open terrain
• Sniper Rifle spawns in the caves — secure it early for long-range control
• Ghost (if available) is excellent for harassing infantry in the open center
• Teleporters enable quick base infiltrations for flag steals
• In Slayer, hold the high ground and use grenades to clear base interiors
